Our HistoryFirst Federal Savings & Loan of Shelbyville filed their charter with the State of Illinois on December 5th 1905, while opening for business the same day. The institution was certified on Jan 3rd 1906 to conduct business as "Peoples Mutual Loan Association". "AN ACT TO ENABLE ASSOCIATIONS OF PERSONS TO BECOME A BODY CORPORATE TO RAISE FUNDS TO BE LOANED ONLY AMONG THE MEMBERS OF SUCH ASSOCIATION"The name "Peoples Mutual Loan Association" changed to "First Federal Savings & Loan of Shelbyville" when their Federal Charter was granted on September 14th 1936 as Federal Charter Number 1277. First Federal Savings and Loan continues to operate as a Mutual Corporation. |
